KEN MacQUEEN
Having just published his debut novel, Hero Haters,
former MacLeans journalist Ken MacQueen came to us asking
for help on getting the word out about his book.
CHALLENGE
As this was his first novel, it was necessary for us to rebrand Ken as a writer and though we would reference his former life as a journalist, it was his new vocation that we had to ultimately emphasize.
STRATEGIES
We set out to create content that would help potential readers to be engaged not only with both his book, but also with himself as author. We conducted interviews with Ken where we had him talk about his book, its themes, his motivations, and anything else we deemed pertinent and interesting to his readers.
We revamped his website, booked a professional photo session, and set up and rebranded existing social media sites.
OUTCOME
The ultimate outcome for Ken was both increased book sales, a series of successful book signings and an increased media presence going forward.
